| The SEN Code of Practice in Early Years Settings This short and easily accessible book is useful for staff working in early years settings. Dr Mortimer covers the key factors that will lead to successful SEN practice at this level. She explains the SEN policy and a sample document is provided. The role of the SENCO is clearly set out. Advice is given on how to carry out a child-centred assessment. Support is suggested first through the use of differentiation and then through IEPs. Exemplar IEPs and action plans for use with parents are given. Working together with other professionals is described and a useful list of contact addresses given. This is an invaluable handbook for anyone working in an early years setting. Reviewed in SATIPS (2002) Back to Books Back to Sure Start section Back to Childminders' section |
