The course accompanies the Stories for Talking book (further details and reviews here), giving the practitioner more detail and lots of practical activities to increase their confidence in implementing the approach.

Stories for Talking is a language programme which addresses the language needs of all pre school children and beyond. It has a highly structured programme of language activities and photocopiable resources, all based on popular stories and delivered as part of story time.

The course will provide:

• A brief overview of the approach

• Confidence in which stories to select to develop the programme further
• Choosing target vocabulary and planning the story time language activities at all 3 levels (vocabulary, sentence building and narrative)
• Planning activities which will reinforce language learning throughout the curriculum
• Wider considerations such as timing, story styles, resources and involving parents
• Lots of very practical sessions resulting in a Stories for Talking package for another popular story

Opportunities to network and share ideas with other Early Years Practitioners / SENCOs / speech and language therapists, who are implementing / interested in the programme
